The demand for flexible solar panels has increased since the introduction of the Merton Rule and the Code for Sustainable Homes. With a range of different roof shapes, the need for flexible solar panels has grown to be able to meet the requirements of flat roofs that require solar.

Using crystalline modules on a flat roof, there are many obstacles which need to be overcome. One concern is the loading. Using plastic consoles filled with gravel to contain the modules, can add up to 150kg/sqm to the roof loadings. The second option for flat roof solar is using metal framework to fix the crystalline modules in place, but this requires roof penetrations which add to the cost of the roof construction.

Using a single ply roofing membrane, with integrated flexible solar panels, a lightweight option is available to developers and commercial property owners. By incorporating the flexible solar panel with flat roof water covering, a flexible solar single ply building integrated product is created. With no roof penetrations, and a loading of 6kg/sqm, the TF Membrane Professional is a true roof covering, singly-ply solar membrane.
